Why I Burned the Outfit I Wore to Alex Ekubo’s Funeral — Angela Okorie

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has opened up about the reason behind her decision to burn the outfit she wore to the burial of late actor Alex Ekubo.
The actress made the revelation shortly after attending Ekubo’s funeral, which took place on June 18 in Arochukwu, Abia State. The ceremony drew family members, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers who gathered to bid the actor a final farewell.
Taking to her Instagram Story after the burial, Okorie disclosed that she destroyed the outfit based on advice from her godmother. According to her, she was told that clothes worn to funeral ceremonies should not be kept after the event but should instead be burned.
The actress said she felt compelled to share the information with her followers, as well as family and friends, so they could be aware of the belief and practice.
She also offered prayers for divine protection, good health, and long life, expressing hope that those close to her would continue to enjoy God’s blessings.
Okorie’s disclosure has generated mixed reactions online, with social media users debating the cultural and spiritual significance of burning clothes worn to burial ceremonies. While some agreed with the practice, others questioned its relevance in modern times.
