Nigeria Immigration Service Launches PERMIS Framework to Strengthen Performance and Accountability

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially launched the Performance Evaluation and Results Management Information System (PERMIS) Framework, marking a significant step in its drive to enhance institutional performance, accountability, and service delivery.

The launch ceremony which held at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters in Abuja on Friday featured signing of Directorate Performance Bonds and the investiture of PERMIS Ambassadors and Focal Persons, reinforcing the Service’s commitment to measurable results and public sector excellence.

Welcoming guests to the event, the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the Planning, Research and Statistics Directorate, DM Bagari, described the PERMIS Framework as a strategic instrument designed to promote institutional excellence through effective performance monitoring and improved service delivery. He noted that the framework will play a critical role in strengthening operational efficiency across the Service.

In her keynote address, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, reaffirmed the Nigeria Immigration Service’s commitment to building a high-performance institution driven by accountability, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement. According to her, the successful implementation of the PERMIS Framework will enhance institutional efficiency while aligning the Service with the Federal Government’s Public Service Performance Management Reform Agenda.

A major highlight of the event was the formal signing of Performance Bonds by Heads of Directorates, symbolizing their commitment to achieving clearly defined institutional targets and delivering measurable results. The ceremony also saw the investiture of PERMIS Ambassadors and Focal Persons, who will champion the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the framework across the Service.

The launch of the PERMIS Framework underscores the Nigeria Immigration Service’s ongoing efforts to transform its operations through transparency, performance-driven leadership, and improved accountability. It also reflects the Service’s dedication to delivering efficient, citizen-centred immigration services in line with the Federal Government’s broader public service reform initiatives.
