President Tinubu Appoints Ayo Fayose as REA Chairman, Announces 26 New Appointments to Federal Agencies

ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), alongside 25 other appointments into key Federal Government agencies and commissions.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, cover leadership positions across 10 strategic agencies responsible for electricity, fiscal management, public administration, housing, agriculture, education, and population services.

Fayose, a two-term governor of Ekiti State, will chair the board of the Rural Electrification Agency, one of the Federal Government’s flagship institutions tasked with expanding electricity access to underserved and rural communities across Nigeria.

He will work alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as Non-Executive Directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and the three previously appointed Executive Directors will remain members of the board.

National Salary and Wages Commission Gets New Leadership

President Tinubu also approved a new governing board for the National Salary and Wages Commission, appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman.

Former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was named Secretary of the commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo State) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna State) were appointed as Commissioners.

Other members of the commission include Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno State), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu State), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo State) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi State).

Fresh Appointments Across Key Agencies

In the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Tosin Johnson Adeyanju was appointed Secretary after serving as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund.

The President also appointed Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC).

For the power sector, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi was named Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), while Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

At the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State, Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government chairman, was appointed Chief Executive Officer, succeeding the late Dr. A. R. Kamal.

Fiscal Responsibility Commission Reconstituted

President Tinubu also approved a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC).

The commission will be chaired by Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu, with Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola serving as board members.

Mass Literacy and Housing Agencies Receive New Executives

In the education sector, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Prof. Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu.

Meanwhile, Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and current Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, was appointed Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

Appointments Take Immediate Effect

The Presidency said all the appointments take immediate effect, as the Tinubu administration continues efforts to strengthen governance and improve the performance of critical institutions responsible for power, public finance, housing, agriculture, education and national development.

The latest appointments are expected to bolster the administration’s ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery and accelerating economic growth across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
