Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will make a state broadcast by 6 pm today to thank stakeholders for restoring peace in the state and to reassure residents of his administration’s commitment.
Fubara disclosed this shortly after his return to Port Harcourt on Friday, where he was welcomed by a large crowd at the airport.
“We are going to address the state officially by 6 pm., and in that broadcast, we will appreciate everyone who brought normalcy to this state,” he said.
The governor’s return follows the lifting of a six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu in March 2025, which resulted in the suspension of Fubara, his deputy, and the Rivers State House of Assembly amid a political and legislative crisis.
The emergency lasted until September 17, after which democratic governance was reinstated.
